Spicy Mezcal Paloma

Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe

This delicious spicy mezcal paloma recipe is quick and has a tangy and refreshing flavor! This is a favorite for my husband and I, also so perfect for winter.

Spicy Mezcal Paloma Recipe

My husband and I really like spicy things in our drinks. As you might expect then, we also love the taste and flavor of jalapeno. Even if you are not one to like spicy drinks, you can take the seeds out and still enjoy the flavor.

I also have been trying different mezcals. I really enjoy the smokiness of it, kind of like a good whiskey. It also pairs really well with the taste of jalapeno. Mezcal is made from agave just like tequila is but the agave is cooked over fire and that is where it gets all of that great smoky flavor from.

Now I have a secret to share with you…I am not a huge fan of grapefruit but I could drink these all day long. Somehow the match of smokiness of the mezcal and tanginess of the grapefruit pair really well together and just tastes so good.

The Paloma was originally made of just two ingredients, tequila and grapefruit soda making it the “working man’s drink.” This recipe has grapefruit juice, mezcal, lime juice and club soda with muddled jalapenos. The soft heat pairs so well with the grapefruit juice.
