Carrot Apple Orange Juice
Over the past 6 months we have been doing a good amount of juicing to help us reach our goals of getting more nutrients in our bodies. Since we are in our vitamin A month, we felt that this was a perfect time to share this juice recipe with you. This carrot, apple, orange juice allows us to not just boost our vitamin A but also vitamin C, B and K as well as other antioxidants, potassium and folate (1,2).
How to put this juice together
To make this delicious juice we only need 3 basic ingredients and a juicer. As the name of the recipe suggests, all we need is a medium size orange, 3 gala apples and 4 to 5 large carrots. To start remove the rind from the orange with a knife and wash the apples and carrots. I tend to start with putting the orange in the juicer to allow as much of the orange juice to flow through the juicer during the process. I then chop the carrots into a size that works for the juicer and put those through the juicer. Finally, I finish off with the apples by cutting them into sizes that just fit in the juicer and pushing them through.
This will normally produce 2 to 2 1/2 cups of juice which is perfect for Elena and I to have one juice each. If we have left over juice, we store it for no longer than two days in some handy containers we purchased shown in the pictures above.
What to do with all of the leftover cuttings and pulp
Juicers do tend to have a good amount of pulp left over after the process and we don’t want to be wasteful. Because of that, we collect all of the leftover cuttings and pulp that are remaining and put them into our compost to help our garden outside grow.
