S’more Tacos Recipe

This S’mores Tacos Recipe is SO easy to make and fun too! My husband loves them so much he couldn’t wait for me to share this recipe with all of you!

The Ingredients:

The ingredients for this S’mores Tacos recipe are pretty easy too. A box of graham crackers, a package of Hershey chocolate bars, a bag of large marshmallows, a box of chocolate cake (and the ingredients to make the cake according to the box), small flour street tacos, butter, cinnamon, sugar.

Now I made this recipe a bunch of times to test out different techniques and each time I bought a different box of cake. However, this Betty Crocker super moist triple chocolate fudge cake was the BEST! Oh my goodness, it is just so good. Other cakes tasted really good, but I am definitely recommending if you have the opportunity, try this cake. SO GOOD!

Make the cake:

The first step is super easy. Just make the cake according to the box. Typically, eggs, some vegetable oil and water. Mix until well blended.

Just prior to pouring the cake to the bottom of slow cooker, make sure you add parchment paper to the bottom and the sides of the slow cooker. This is highly recommended, because if your marshmallows get too hot they will stick and harden on the sides and it will make clean up very frustrating….don’t be me!

The Layers:

Now assemble your delicious S’mores. Add your cake mix to the bottom of the slow cooker, next add graham crackers (est. 5 to 6 crackers). Quick tip: I made this with crumbled graham crackers and then full graham crackers and I felt the full graham crackers made for better layers in the end. The crumbled graham crackers got lost in the mix. After the graham crackers have been layered on top of the chocolate cake mix, add the large marshmallows on top (est. half a bag). Then add the Hershey’s chocolate (est. 4-5 bars).

Then add one more layer of graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate. The last layer of chocolate is just a half bar broken into singles (in picture below).

Set the slow cooker on low and cook for exactly two hours. This is important because if the cake or the marshmallow over cooks, it will start to harden. The marshmallow and chocolate should be melted at the top.

Tortilla Shells:

While the cake/s’more mix cooks (closer to 1 hour 40 minute mark), let’s get the tortilla’s ready. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. I found these street taco flour tortillas at my local grocery store in the tortilla section. If you can’t find them, you can always purchase larger tortillas and then cut them into smaller circles using a cookie cutter. For these I melted 2 tablespoons of butter and mixed one tablespoons of sugar and one tablespoons of cinnamon together.

Take the tortilla and spoon a small amount of the butter onto the tortilla and rub it into the tortilla using your hands. Grab a pinch of the cinnamon-sugar mix and spread over the tortilla and rub it over both sides of the tortilla until evenly coated. Quick tip: I tried a bunch of different ways and using my hands was the best way I was able to achieve an even coat, so it was messy. The only other way I could think of was if I had a shaker that was filled with cinnamon-sugar.

Take the back of a muffin pan and place your tortillas in a taco shape (holds 6 at a time).  Place the pan in the pre-heated oven to cook for 5 minutes. If you want more of a crisp and shape to your tortillas, leave them in for up to 8 minutes in the oven, but I recommend just the 5 minutes to add to the gooey-ness. 🙂

Putting it all together:

Once the shells are done baking, let them cool before touching them (est. 5 minutes). After two hours, your cake mix should be set and you can eat! Get your shells and a spatula ready and dig in. When scooping out your delicious s’more, make sure to get all the way to the bottom for the cake-y part (it adds to the texture and is SO good). Add the mixture to your taco shell and add the crumbled graham crackers and you are all set to enjoy this delicious warm gooey taco heaven! If you are entertaining, you can add any toppings you like. We added marshmallow frosting, mini marshmallows, crumbled graham crackers and chocolate chip pieces for fun.

  2. line slow cooker with parchment paper or non stick substance

  2. Add cake mix to bottom of parchment lined slow cooker.
  3. Next, lay graham crackers on top of cake mix (est. 5 to 6 full crackers).
  4. Add layer of large marshmallows on top of graham crackers (est. half bag).
  5. Lay chocolate bars on top of marshmallows (est. 4 to 5 bars).
  6. Using remaining ingredients, add one more layer of graham crackers, marshmallow and chocolate.
  7. Add the lid and cook on low for 2 hours.

Tortilla shells:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Take 2 muffin pans for baking and turn them upside down.
  3. Melt butter (set aside).

  6. Grab a large pinch of the cinnamon sugar mix and rub into each side of the tortilla.

  8. Each muffin pan should hold 6 shells (you can make two pans at the same time or 6 at a time if you only have one muffin pan).
  9. Bake for 5 minutes or 8 minutes for a crispier shell.
  10. Remove from oven and allow to cool (5 min est.).
  11. After two hours, scoop out mixture from slow cooker to tortilla shell and top with crumbled graham crackers.
