Chesterton, Indiana
Can I just say how much I love my family, we all love food, we are always talking about food or new recipes or where we are eating next. 🙂 It really is the best to share a love of food. Awhile back my sister-in-law mentioned that there was a new place she wanted to try out Gastro49 Pub & Eatery in Chesterton, Indiana and that they were gaining a quick reputation for having great burgers and food. I was all in!
We walked in and the atmosphere was very much like a pub style place. We came through their side entrance, and to the left was a more defined bar area and to the right we saw a more family restaurant type atmosphere. We decided to eat on the restaurant side that night.
They had a whole menu dedicated full of on tap and draft beer along with other cocktails offered. I decided to go with the Devils Trumpet The Diplomat on tap. I saw that it was a Belgian style dark and strong, which are my favorites. However, I didn’t realize until after I ordered it that it was 12.5 ABV (alcohol by volume) for 12 oz! Whew! I made sure to order a water as well, but the beer was smooth and delicious, I was very happy. 🙂
We looked over the menu and when the waitress came, I asked her what they were known for as far as appetizers, and she recommended their loaded piggy parm pub fries. Whaaaaaaa? Yes, please!
When the fries came (shown above), they looked and smelled delicious! We ate them, analyzing each ingredient and commenting on how delicious they were. These fries are tossed in garlic butter, then sprinkled with Parmesan cheese, bacon and herbs. A-mazing. After this, we were excited for the main course. 🙂
My husband decided to go with (another recommendation from our waitress) the molten lava burger. A very spicy burger stuffed with jalapenos and bacon, topped with pepper jack cheese, a spicy mayo and Cajun seasoning.
When the burger came out, it was massive and smelled amazing. My husband and I shared the burger and I really enjoyed it. It was not as hot as I thought it would be, which was good but it had a ton of flavor. I will be honest, I wasn’t too sure about it but it was really good. It had everything I want in a burger, lots of meat, lots of sauce and cheese. Yumm.
Finally, the last recommendation from the waitress was the wings. Ahhh, I liked this, something simple and tasteful. I ordered the medium wings. They were just as good as they look in the picture above. I also liked that the wings were not heavily breaded. They were cooked just right with a good sauce.
We had a good time at Gastro49. The wait staff was attentive and even the manager/owner walked around asking how everything was and ensuring that all the customers were happy. I would definitely go back again…and again. 🙂
