4th of July Menu Ideas

4th of July Menu Ideas:

Have you ever tried to plan a dinner party or even just a weekend get-together and can’t figure out what to serve for food? This happens to me all the time. I usually spend so much time perusing Pinterest trying to find what foods would go well together and what to serve for appetizers and desserts. After I put all that work into coming up with a menu, then I make the food, have a good time, only to do it all over again for the next get-together. Madness! After a while, I started writing all of my menu ideas in a notebook (yayy!) and now can reference it when need be. Also, because I love sharing information, I am hoping that I can save you all the work. 😉

This menu is what I came up with for this years 4th of July get-together. I centered most of the food around the BBQ shredded chicken that I wanted to make and tried to look for sides that would compliment it.

As you can see in the picture above (Calligraphy done by TandemCalligraphy) as a starter I offered a 7-layer dip. This was because I knew a girlfriend was bringing her famous 7-layer taco dip. I don’t know what she does to it but it always goes so fast! Thanks Allie!

For the main dish I offered BBQ chicken sandwiches with chipotle coleslaw and grilled onions on top (sooo good) . For sides, we had grilled corn-on-the-cob, German potato salad (because it’s my favorite and has bacon!!!), baked beans (again bacon!), and Lay’s potato chips (for filler).

Dessert went quick as well, I had to add my husbands favorite dessert. It is a fresh berry pound cake trifle with cool whip that I made when we had first started dating and he is obsessed with it. 🙂
