Inspired by the Avocado Margarita Recipe from La Cava’s Tequila Bar in Epcot at Walt Disney World. This take on an avocado margarita has Valencia orange infused tequila with a tropical liqueur that has passion fruit. It is seriously good and is my latest obsession.
Backstory:
So real talk, wayyyyy back when everyone was jumping on the avocado smoothie bandwagon, I thought gross!… I know. The worst part about it was that I never even bothered to try and make one to taste for myself. Then fast forward to the next time we went to Disney World and a new Tequila bar had just opened! As we sat down, we were told by the couple leaving that we must try avocado margarita and the guacamole. So my husband said he was interested in giving it a try. Perfect I thought, then I can try it and see if I like avocado in any liquified form. I really don’t remember what I ordered, but I do remember that my husband ended up liking my drink more and I his. Now, present day, every time we are in Epcot we have to stop for avocado margaritas and guacamole. This Disney margarita inspired me to make my own version with some tropical flavors. Next, let’s discuss the ingredients for my version of the avocado margarita.
Ingredients:
This recipe is super easy once you have all the ingredients. It’s just tequila, liqueur, agave, avocado and lime. If you want to do something a little extra, I’ve added a chamoy lime salt rim (Tajin). I purchased this Valencia infused tequila because summer is coming and I usually like my drinks two ways. Straight Tequila to sip on slowly or tequila, a squeeze of lime and sparkly water with tons of ice. This tequila works for both occasions. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to try some of their other flavors.
For the Liqueur, it was actually a happy accident. I was rushing while at the store and was looking for pineapple liqueur when I saw this golden pineapple from across the room and just purchased my items and took off. When I got home, it was only then I realized not only was this product made in holland, but was mixed with cognac, vodka and passionfruit in lieu of pineapple. So, I thought I would try it in my recipe and boy am I glad I did. Now you guys get to taste this amazing final product! Yummy!
For the chamoy salt rim, I was able to find the same brand Tajin that I purchase our lime salt from. We buy it so much that we just call lime-salt…Tajin in this house. Next, let’s cover the super easy process of blending and assembly.
The Process:
For the margarita I used my small Ninja blender. It’s great for making all kinds of mixed drinks. I added the Tequila, Liqueur, Agave, Avocado, ice and some water. Blend until it is a smoothie consistency and don’t forget to taste before pouring. If it is still too thick for your liking, add water just a little at a time until it is just perfect. Every avocado is not the same size, so I have found that sometimes I don’t need to add any water and sometimes I need to add up to 4 ounces. While the margarita is blending, I get the glasses ready by dipping them in chamoy and sprinkling Tajin lime-salt on the rim. So good.
Once the margarita is finished blending, just pour into your glass and drink away. I have been loving this in preparation for brunch season. It is strong and perfect for sipping while munching on all of the brunch goodies. Enjoy!
